I just tried out the mailing label creation and have a proposal for extending this feature.

Now its really nice to have this option generally to print out mailing labels, but CiviCRM currently does not offer much possibilities for styling them. With styling I actually dont mean much, but all we can do now is adapt the general format for the mailing labels (height, width, how many per row and per column etc.) and the tokens to use as well as the order they should appear.

What would be nice now is to be able to change for example the font and to be able to use different fonts in the label. In our case I think of it because our mailing labels use to have our foundations name centered at the top of each label written in a smaller size than the actuall address and also, those two parts of the label are divided by a regular black line, also centered. The Address lines are left-aligned.

I do not see a way to do this on civicrm so far, but If I am wrong correct me please.

Hi Anja - The ability to configure layout details (margins, spacing, font and font size etc.)  for mailing labels was added recently (contributed by an awesome community member - Marty Wright). The feature you're looking for - specifying different font / font size and alignment for different elements on the label - would also be cool. I suspect it would involve adding some kind of markup within the label format block defined in Global Settings > Address Settings.

If you're organization has tech resources who can work on this - a patch would be welcome. They can jump on IRC for assistance.
