fields included on donation page are not migrating to the contact record
September 23, 2011, 12:04:45 pm
We have a profile we setup with custom fields. This profile is being included in a contribution page. When the contribution is submitted, the included fields don't also update records in the individual contact list.

What are the "best practices" for doing this? What additional information do I need to provide, in order to get help resolving this?

Pls detail what sort of Fields are in the Profile - and confirm what Permissions you have for Field and Profile related Perms - eg can users 'edit all custom data' which is required imo

So. the issue is with anonymous donations. When a guest submits a donation, their contribution amount within the contact record does not update. Our Donate page is setup as follows:

There are 2 included profiles:
Donor Information
Memorial Gift Information

All the fields are "Contribution" fields.

Attached are the permissions associated with the civicrm module.

Does the contribution page work if you remove the Profiles?

Yes, it works correctly.

A related question:
Do donations through the paypal sandbox ever complete? The only payment that completed was a live payment, outside the sandbox.

seems odd that this would only affect anon - so you can definitely submit these forms as authenticated and have the Contrib and Custom fields populated in the db?
Some screenshots of the Profiles and the Form might provide some clues

To clarify, I think i've gotten deeper into this issue. Its not that the contribution fields are not saving properly. It's that the fields within the contribution that match those within the individual record are not updating the individual contact record. I guess I'm assuming that this should be default functionality but, I'm not sure if thats the case.

Looks like you have veered away from how civicrm works. THe contribution fields can be used for adding information to the Contribution record - not the Contact Record. So those fields such as 'First Name' should be appearing on the Contribution record that is added to the Contact who fills the form out. Are you saying it isn't there?

Perhaps knock up a really simple version of what you are trying to do on the demo and post back here the Profile/Field Group info and an example of a Contact who has filled in the form.
