Blame it on being a Sunday and the clocks going fwd an hour last night so not as much sleep as usual.

I want to provide a way for people to sign up for Newsletters and create a Drupal account if not have one/logged in - and for the form to be pre-filled if they are logged in.

So the instructions for the Profile required for a 'sign up to a Mailing List group' are well explained here http://en.flossmanuals.net/civicrm/email/configuring/ (though I don't follow why name fields etc need to be set to Public Pages since they seem to work fine for me when not)

I have my Drupal User settings set correctly for Visitors to register for accounts.

I create the Profile with email field, group field and other fields.

I set it to 'Require Drupal Account'

I then have the option of using either /civicrm/profile/create?gid=16&reset=1  or /civicrm/profile/edit?gid=16&reset=1

By used 'edit' it means that a person who is logged in will have the fields pre-filled - excellent - but I don't get the Drupal account fields for logged out - sad.

If I use 'create' then I get the Drupal account fields - excellent - but logged in people don't get the fields pre-filled - sad.

Is there something I am doing wrong? (other than working on a sunday?)
