Mobile application for CiviCRM
September 26, 2011, 04:26:32 pm
Hi everyone,

I try start a community work on mobile application for CiviCRM. Some of my customers needs access remotelly their CiviCRM data, I think this can help a lot. Some users in most case using Android tablets and other rare cases iPhones and iPad.

Because I thinking about this, some of my customers buy their USD 99 tablets from China with Andoid 2.2 or older and use in events to host guests in other cases is external people in their actions using your devices like tablets and phones, connected via 3G, again in some cases using Android and some cases iOS, maybe Blackbarry.

eileen drive me to some direction here and show me a very beginning work from kurund here civicrm.org/blogs/kurund/civicrm-iphone-app-pre-alpha-release and about "civimobile", here is another post about civicrm.org/blogs/mbriney/civimobile-concept and see other thinks here github.com/kylejaster/CiviMobile

I think use Titanium Mobile or PhoneGap for this. What do you guys think? What suggest?

Make native versions of each?
Use framework like Titanium Mobile or PhoneGap for covering more devices?

Hi,

You could use local storage (html5), or PhoneGap allows you indeed to access more phone features.

When went with jquerymobile for Civimobile, and have to say the doc for iui seems to be better/clearer.

Hi xavier,

yes, I agree the documentation is much more better than other. I have some troubles about perfomance, slow downs when CRUD a contact, organization or household. I want solve this with some offline data, maybe a SQLlite for some cached data. I thinking and planning better about that. Any help will be appreciated.

Thats a good starting point and i would recommend that:

1. You fork that github repo to make changes

2. You coordinate on github with the features that you are adding so folks know what other people are working on.

Would really help for civimobile to get a few more features in :)
