Adding PayPal as an option for payments
September 26, 2011, 09:07:50 pm
We use authorize.net as our payment processor and accept Visa, Mastercard and Amex. Some members have expressed an interest in accepting PayPal payments from the user's own account as well. If we were to put this link on a contribution page, it would have to divert to PayPal to accept the payment.

Is this possible and how?

The easiest way to do so, might be to have two contribution pages, one for auth.net and the other for paypal. and allow people to switch between the two.

There has been a feature request for CiviContribute to allow multiple payment processors (auth.net, paypal standard, google checkout etc) on the same page. I suspect this is a 75-100 hour project. Would be great if DA could consider being the lead / seed sponsor on this project

There is a bit of a misunderstanding here. We want users to be able to use their personal PayPal account to make contributions, not use the PayPal payment processor.

if you use paypal standard payment processor in Civi it does what you want. i.e. people can use their own account to pay OR use a credit card on paypal's site

Having two contribution pages to choose from would be a real challenge. The ideal way I would like to do it is to be able to include a PayPal "pay now" button in a profile, if that is possible, and not use the CiviCRM PayPal processor at all.
