Interaction with Drupal
September 27, 2011, 02:58:26 pm
Hi,

I am new in this. I just finish reading Drupal and some civiCRM/civiCASE stuff.

Couple of issues that aren't very clear to me:
1.  Is civiCRM just a Drupal module? I mean, do I still have everything I have with Drupal - things like access to Drupal administration, manipulate the menu, theming, ...

2. I assuming items inside the civiCRM contact don't have to have assoicated Drupal account - Is this correct?

3. How the Drupal Group(i.e. the permission role) related to roles in the civiCRM? Are they the same thing (civiCRM role is simply a Drupal Group?)

Well. I, guess, basically I think the civiCase can do most of what I wanted, but I wonder how I can customize it if I have to.

Thank for reply.

Duncan

Hi Duncan

1/ almost - it is a module on steroids - but yes admin stuff still via Drupal - permissions, menus, theming etc
2/ correct - all Drupal users should have a Civi contact - but not required other way round
3/ not sure re your use of 'group - afaik Drupal doesn't have 'groups' other than Organic Groups. It has Roles which are linked to Permissions. So with CiviCRM you would tend to create some new Drupal roles so that different users/admin have different access to the civicrm system.

Hope that helps
