[SOLVED]Translation of <<CiviCRM: A comprehensive guide>>
September 29, 2011, 02:44:21 am
Hi,
I am working on a project for a charity in China. We found that CiviCRM is real a good system to all of the NGOs in china and this is what we need for now. So we'd like to introduce it to more people here. We have started to translate the CiviCRM system and then we start to translate the online-book --- CiviCRM: A comprehensive guide. But I found that we don't have this in Transifex. Can we put this onto Transifex or can you give me some suggestions about how can we organize the translation?

Thanks

Hi,

The book is managed on the "Flossmanuals" website: http://www.flossmanuals.net/

It's a great platform for collaborative book editing. Since a recent upgrade, translations are handled directly from the main site (for French, we had started on the old platform, was more complicated, but we plan on moving to the new tool shortly).

You can create an account here:
http://booki.flossmanuals.net/

If you have any questions/comments you can ask them here or join the Flossmanuals mailing list: http://lists.flossmanuals.net/listinfo.cgi ("discuss" list).

Hello,

Adam on Flossmanuals says:

Quote
clone the manual :
1. goto 'my manuals'

2. copy the full url for civi (http://booki.flossmanuals.net/civicrm) into 'import booki' inder umport manuals

3. give the manual a new name in the box provided (dont use chinese chars call it 'civicrm zh' or something similar

4. click import

5. translate

(translators can always see original source with 'view chapter' when editing)

adam

As mlutfy says, joining the Flossmanuals mailing list: http://lists.flossmanuals.net/listinfo.cgi ("discuss" list) is the best way to get help.

Good luck!

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your kind response. I tried to do that but got some problems. I have send a mail in the maillist to ask for help. Also attach the information here to see is there anybody met the problem before.
==================================================================================================
I am trying to create another book based on the existing one to do some translation. But I got the problem when I do it.
First, when I visit the address: http://booki.flossmanuals.net/civicrm, I got the error like this:
This interface is depreciated.
It has been disabled because this view was never meant to be the readable view of the manual and too many people are pushing their readership here. This view used to display the very ugly and disfunctional *unstable* version of a manual. So, it has been turned off since we do not want software users to be misled by half finished manuals.

To access the UNSTABLE read-only version of a manual please either use the 'view' link on the edit interface (shown below) or read the STABLE (published) manual (eg. at http://www.flossmanuals.net).

And then, I tried to use the address "http://en.flossmanuals.net/CiviCRM/" in the import view. But I got the error like this:

Error while doing import

This is a first version of error message. Not much to see here.

Hey there,

I see that http://booki.flossmanuals.net/civicrm_zh_cn/_edit/ is up and running so presume that you worked it out.  Let me know if you have any other questions / problems.
