CiviMail Templates
May 14, 2007, 11:52:20 am
Hello:

I just started looking into CiviMail and had a question about development mailing templates.  I've searched the forums and documentation and I can't find any example of what a mailing template would be like.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Andrew Saxe

I thought I should clarify my question a bit more...

I did find sample messages on the CiviCRM Web site, but these don't really discuss templates.  When is a template used?  How are templates defined?  What is the Mailing Header/Footer?  How are these items changed?  Is there anyway to add a WSYIWYG for the message editor?

Thanks for your help.

Andrew

Message templates are currently (1.7) not available for CiviMail. They are available for other mailing functions in CiviCRM.

Templates are defined in the administrative menu and are used for the email contacts command from the drop down in the search return screen. They can also be used for membership renewal reminders.

Mailing headers and footers appear on top/bottom of messages you upload into CiviMail. They are changed from the mailing component screen in CiviMail.

There is currently no way to have integrated WYSIWYG. We recomend users compose CiviMails locally with the WYSIWYG editor and then upload the resulting file.
