Issues with formatting of images in Outlook
October 07, 2011, 03:47:12 pm
I am not sure if this is a Civimail issue or a Microsoft issue, but here you go.

I have been trying to put together an email that includes some pictures in it. When I send out a test mailing (using both test mailing and a test group), I have found that images get reformatted when they are brought into Microsoft Outlook.

For example, when I set the image float to left, it is brought into outlook and there is no float. On top of that although I resize the image, it automatically sizes the image to its original dimensions.

It only happens when I receive emails in Outlook, so if I view the emails directly on my online email server everything is okay. Since most of the people that we are emailing use outlook it is proving to be a bit frustrating.

I had the same problem when sending out our first CiviMail mailings. It seems that email clients either modify the source, or ignore certain HTML/CSS elements. I got around this by creating a template that has no CSS, using some ideas from the samples provided by http://www.campaignmonitor.com/templates/ and looking in my junk email for other ideas.

Microsoft Outlook is a real pain for formatting support. Maybe include a link for an online version.
