Civimail not send to all recipients
October 11, 2011, 02:38:02 pm
We have a client sending a bulk mailing to a list made up of approximately 24 groups, sending through a shared server at smtp.com.

The groups are a combination of static and smart groups.

The mailing indicates that the # of intended recipients is ~ 3400

However the mailing completes after sending only ~ 1100 messages with 20 bounces.

We now there is at least one smartgroup in the list that contains 1300+ emails not on hold.

They're on 3.3.5

If we try to select the contacts using the groups through advanced search or search builder we get fatal errors.

Looking for some understanding on:
  • How are the number of recipients calculated?
  • How are the recipients managed during email delivery? (what database tables etc.)
  • Anyone else experience anything similar?

Thanks
