Multiple Payment Method for Event Registration

I am trying to implement multiple payment method for Online registration where the registrants can choose how to pay for the Event Registration.

Example:
Payment method: 1. Credit Card (default Civi Feature) 2. Bank Account (Account Number , Routing number etc) 3. Pay by check  4. Grants

From what i know CiviCRM does not have a feature to let the Registrant Select the payment method but if directed I would be glad to help out in this feature

CiviCRM handles items 1 and 3

the folks at backoffice thinking: http://www.backofficethinking.com/

are planning to add support for item 2 in the next few months. If you'd like to help them with this, you should chat with them and coordinate. There are not too many providers that offer ACH check services

not sure what u mean by grants and how they differ from item 3 (which is basically we'll pay u by other means!)

One request which has come up is the ability to allow folks to pay by either:

credit card, bank transfer, paypal standard OR google checkout.

This is a lot more involved and will require a fair number of schema and code changes within CiviCRM

Individuals should be able to apply for grants (or Scholarship) to an Events. In case of approval they would be able granted the fees to the Event. A possible work around could be to set up CiviGrants and let the individuals apply for the grant. If the grant is approved, the administrator can register the participants via the back-end specifying the  Payment method as "Grant/Scholarship".

I have not worked with CiviGrants before but wondering if this would be a possible solution.
