Editing Profiles in Joomla

Hell Everyone,

I am relatively new to Joomla and Civicrm though I have been a programmer and database developer over the last 15 years. I have developed a Joomla site version 1.7 and I'm using civicrm 4.0 I created a profile for my users to edit from the Joomla front end and I select the profile but there is no option for them to edit the profile even though I used the edit profile link to civicrm. Can and civicrm expert tell how get this in edit mode?
