Specific PDF message template for "Print or Email Contribution Receipt" action

Is there any way to change the message template used for the PDF generation?

I'd like to use a custom one, to not interfere with the templates used for emailing.

It would be the best if I could specify one of those "User driven Message" template to use for this.

It is hard-coded at the moment - It would be good if it weren't but it's waiting for someone to throw some resources at it.

Hi,

I'm new to CiviCRM and the community.  I would also like to have this functionality (i.e. the ability to modify the PDF receipt and/or use a user-generated letter) and was planning on trying to find someone to hire to do the customizations for us (I'm not a web developer).  What is involved in sponsoring development of this as part of the community?  Any estimates on how significant a project it is?

Has there been any additional movement on this?  Is it still a "10-20 hour" project?

If I looked at building an module or extension for this, would others be interested?

dont think so, but might want to check on the 4.3 demo boxes to confirm this

seems like structuring the code to take in a user selectable message template for email/pdf might not be too hard and probably a shorter project, guesstimating here (5-10 hours?)

I feel like I did this - but maybe against 4.1 or even 3.4 & didn't pursue it for 4.2 as Samuel had a bunch of improvements he was looking at which he did proceed with for 4.2.

I can't find my patch.

My recollection was that it was fairly simple but there was some question as to which templates should be available (partly because it made it cluttered & possibly partly because I wasn't sure if there were any security implications - especially if it were possible to render smarty through the tpl)

Some background: the reason I want this is that we want (e.g.) to include the recipients full name and address when printed, spaced so that it appears through a window envelope when tri-folded, but the same code as an HTML file looks bad (not to mention the full name and address isn't needed).

Lobo - this doesn't exist in 4.3 (from my testing).

Eileen - I'd love to see such a patch is you could find it.  I found somewhat similar code at http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php?topic=22235.0 but it's not a user selectable message template.

The ability to have different messages based on contribution amount can be done now (using conditions in the template) but being able to manually select different messages - perhaps one for the annual fall donation drive - would still be beneficial.
