CiviEvent - Employees use a cost code instead of a credit card
October 19, 2011, 08:01:24 am
I have an event that both our employees and non-employees can register for. Someone that is not one of our employees must pay for the event with a credit card while an employee can use one of our internal accounting codes with which to charge the event fee.

What is the best way of setting this up? I don’t mind having employees log into the Drupal site if that is required to make some option available to a specific group (such as Employees). I would certainly prefer that the cost center option is not even available or viewable by a non-employee just to avoid confusion. We do need to collect the same information from either employees or non-employees, it is just the payment means that is different.

It won't fit your 'do not show for non-employees' but I would probably try to use 'Pay Later' and set it up so that it informs them that they need to enter a cost code in a custom field.
You may then be able to set the Pay Later field to be only visible to logged in users with Role X via css/js.

That is an interesting way of doing it. I never considered making an option, such as pay later, available via CSS. Is there some kind of hook (such as some kind of class) that is added to a page if a user is authenticated that would facilitate this? I have yet to use the Pay Later option so I need to look into what kind of functionality that it gives me. Thanks for the info.
