Neon Systems workflow with CiviCRM Refinements
October 20, 2011, 05:00:34 pm
Hi,

One of the nonprofits I do design work for is using Neon Systems as a CRM.  When I explored it internally, it looked amazingly like a CiviCRM clone but with lots of updates.  Can CiviCRM do the CiviCRM version of Neon's System (which MUST be based on CiviCRM code)?  Neon incorporates the following modules: Fundraising & Donations, Event Management & Registration, Online Membership/Volunteer Management System, E-Newsletters & Mailings, and Online Forms & Surveys.

Check them out at  z2systems.com

Anytime I work with a non-profit, I recommend CiviCRM,  but it would be great if CiviCRM had these extra components.  I'd love for CiviCRM to work like this but have the look and website integration (Joomla/Drupal/WordPress) it currently has.

Can this be done with CiviCRM?

But all in all, CiviRocks!

Hi,

What is/are the features that you'd want to see on civi? The list of modules are all existing in civi.

Neon doesn't look much like CiviCRM to me, on the surface anyhow.

Everything you mention is built in, except webforms and surveys and those you can do with Drupal's WebForm with CiviCRM integration for such.

Hi Xavier,

What I'd like to see in CiviCRM is how the backend of Neon works.  When you're in the backend, you see a drop down, fusion type menu which is not so differenct from CiviCRM.  However, I like that you don't have to log into the interface of the website to get to the Neon database.  I miss having a standalone version of CiviCRM which kept users from having access to other parts of the website.   Neon, also easily incorporates an 'optional donation' element that is available when setting up event registration pages.

What I LOVE about CiviCRM is how its forms integrate with the website template.  The front end looks seamless and neat.  Neon is lacking in that area.

Hi Hershel,

The backend editing pages of Neon look similar to the ones of CiviCRM. It looks like they took the code, tweaked it, and then changed the style and look of it. However, at its essense it has the look and feel of CiviCRM. I use Joomla because my clients find the backend of it easier than Drupal, so webforms and surveys aren't as straight forward.
