time zone

Where can I find information how civicrm handles time zones?

Specifically:
If I want to add an activity (like a meeting) which timezone is being used?
On one civi install it seems to use GMT on the other my own timezone. Where is it configured which timezone is being used?

Can I add an activity (meeting) for people with different timezones and when they login they see  the meeting scheduled according their own timezone?

Civi does not handle time zones :(

it basically inherits the timezone that is set either in php.ini and/or drupal. All time calls are made with the default timezone value.

yes, seems like we need to address this issue sometime soon. maybe a good project for the amsterdam sprint?

As long as the Amsterdam sprint is in Apeldoorn I think it is a fine subject  ;)

Cool!

I have some ideas about specs for this. What is the best place to write and discuss them? Wiki?

can you put it on the wiki?

another option that gets read a lot more is putting your specs / plan on the blog. That way a lot more folks are likely to comment and give feedback

HI all, are there any updates to how Civi handles timezones? I have a team using CiviCase and when they enter the time of the activity, no one is ever sure of which timezone it is referring to. Thanks!
