Custom Report - Data Missing

Hi.

I'm running civi 3.4.5 in drupal and have just started working with custom reports.  I followed the instructions located at

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/CiviReport+structure+and+customization

I copied the Constituent Report (Detail), renamed it and registered it, and I am able to run the report the new report (which I have not changed in any way).  However, only contact data will display when I run the new report.  If I check the boxes to display Membership or Contribution data nothing is displayed.  Why is this?
