Expired memberships still showing up in smart group

When searching for smart group members (Regular Members) the expectation is that organisations whose memberships have expired will not show up in a search where Membership Status is in 'New' or 'Current' or 'Grace'.

Here's an example:

The organisation's membership has expired and not been renewed, however, it is listed as 'New'.

What should I check to ensure that membership expiries have been correctly configured? Here's the config for the 'Expired' status:
