migrating contact data
October 25, 2011, 02:21:18 pm
Hi there, new post-er here...

We're still trying to decide if we should take the CiviCRM plunge with all we have or not.

How hard is it to migrate to something "bigger" (read: more expensive) in the future if I can't convince us to stay with CiviCRM?  In other words, is it a painful process to migrate to Salesforce or ACT?

Thanks so much,
Jon

I don't have experience migrating to other systems, mostly just from other systems, but generally speaking, CiviCRM provides good data. That means that it can be exported cleanly either using built in tools, or the API, or using MySQL directly, and thus any system that has good import tools should be able to import such.

But anyhow probably they will like CiviCRM. We all do. :)

Can we help you in answering some of the problems that lead to the assumption that something 'bigger' (meaning I have to pay for it?) also means something better?
