Better display of Civi Events in the front end....
October 26, 2011, 04:05:54 am
Hi,

- CiviCRM 4.0.5, J1.7.1

I current use the HTML feed link to list events for a particular event type. However this is not very flexible as it returns a large number of events and there is no way to filter or return only events on a date etc.

I had a brief play with http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/CiviEvent+Joomla+Module and although it installed fine I got the following error:

Table 'joomla_yearofthefarmer_launch.civicrm_option_value' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT civicrm_option_value.value, civicrm_option_value.label FROM civicrm_option_value INNER JOIN civicrm_option_group ON (civicrm_option_value.option_group_id = civicrm_option_group.id) WHERE (civicrm_option_group.name = 'event_type')

My CiviCRM data is stored in a different database to the Joomla data so I am guessing that the correct config value is not being read. Now before I go and hack this etc. I was wondering if there was already a solution that would allow me to:

- Present events more flexibly in the front end - Filtering by event type, dates etc.
- Allow integration with some form of calendar for display purposes in the front end, so for instance I could display a monthly calendar etc.

Any suggestions and pointers greatly appreciated.
