Differences in "More actions" menus
February 01, 2008, 09:45:45 am
One thing I would love to see implemented in future options is to standardize the "more action" options between the civicomponents andthe advanced search too.  For example, when I run a search in Civimember, the list of options for more actions are less than those in advanced search running the exact same query (in advanced search I get print address labels, tag, add to group, etc.).  Is there a reason for this? I think it would be great to access these options from the component results.

thanks.

BTW, I'm running 1.9.12432 but I checked 2.0 sandbox and it is the same.

I think making the "more actions" options identical for all components might not make sense - things like "Cancel Registration" really belongs in the Find Participants search, for example.

However, I don't think there's any good reason not to have the "core" actions like "Mailing Labels", "New Smart Group", "Add to Group" etc. in all searches. I'll add this to our candidate list for 2.x. If you have a need / interest in pushing this forward quickly, consider contributing a development resource to work on it with us.

I totally agree Dave that component-specific actions should stay in the relevant component. I was referring more to the standard ones that would be good in any components actions' list.

thanks for the help.
