I want join, end and start date to be optional
October 26, 2011, 04:28:16 pm
Hi

My client has one membership type: 1 year, fixed 1 jan - 31 dec.

They want to record membership also for everbody who apply for a membership - so everybody get a membership status called 'Applicant'.

Then they have a board meeting and choose if applicants can be or can't be a member - then new members get status 'Current' and the others 'Refused'

This seems to be working. But they don't want to set join date until the board meeting decisions. And then they want to set start date after a payment (contribution) is recorded. And then the end date could be calculated and set.

Are we going to have a lot of issues if I remove the formRule for these dates in CRM/Member/Form/Membership.php? Is there a lot of code that assumes/require these fields to be set?

We would like to use status rules for above mentioned statuses and that's a reason for this change request. Please advice!
