Problem installing CiviCRM on Vista using the Web Platform Installer
October 28, 2011, 10:50:47 pm
Hello,

I am trying to create a backup/test install of CiviCRM on a windows machine. I followed the instructions to install Drupal and all the depencies from a single"web platform installer" installer here:
http://drupal.org/documentation/install/windows

I selected to use a MySQL database.

I followed the instructions to install CiviCRM here. But, when I browse to the downloaded 4.0.7 module and click install within the Drupal module tab, the window blinks, the form rests, and nothing else happens.

If I assume everything is fine and jump to http://localhost:28211/sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php I get a Drupal "page not found" error page.

When I go back to add module by typing the URL to the 4.0.7 module on sourceforge (http://sourceforge.net/projects/civicrm/files/civicrm-stable/4.0.7/civicrm-4.0.7-drupal.tar.gz/) I get the error INVALID CHECKSUM FOR FILE "  (double quote at end).

I'm stuck at this point. Does anyone have any ideas? The Drupal version is 7.2

Hi. I am not familiar with your web installer, but I would not recommend that you use it because Drupal 7.2 is insecure--several newer releases have already been released, including some with security patches.

Regarding the CiviCRM install, not all servers are able to fetch the CiviCRM tarball, due to its size. In such a case, I recommend you download the tarball (an archive or "zip" type of file) yourself and put it in sites/all/modules and unpack (unzip) it manually.

Then you can run http://localhost:28211/sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php

Thank you Hershel. I was planning on updating after installing. I just used the Installer because it set-up all dependencies. I'm currently using CiviCRM via localhost only.
