CiviCRM for PEG Access Televison Station
February 01, 2008, 12:20:22 pm
In November 2006 we created a Drupal site (communitytv.org)  At that time we were also wanting to integrate our membership database, class sign-ups, and equipment reservations with our site, but was told CiviCRM, which might be capable of meeting our needs, was still in development.  I am wondering if other PEG stations have integrated their databases with Drupal using CiviCRM, and how it is working out?
Thanks!

I have worked with many PEG stations and successfully integrated CiviCRM at a bunch of locations. It generally works great. If you need to use the CiviMail component, it generally becomes a bit more complicated to manage in a shared hosting environment, but it's still doable. In particular, CiviEvent and CiviMember have been very useful at all the PEG stations I work with, as they are often looking to have easy sign-ups and tracking for classes/trainings and membership services at their station.

With 2.0 it's easier than ever to install, so give it a shot!

Note: There are a bunch of us working on PEG-specific modules for Drupal, which tie into CiviCRM as well. A couple of these include an equipment reservation/inventory module (spearheaded by MNN) and a scheduler module that integrates with master control systems (currently just MaestroVision) created by CCTV in Vermont. The reservation module in particular is VERY tapped into CiviCRM and is pretty fabulous. There is a lot of work going on at present with these, and if you want to keep updated you should join the Drupal group that's here: http://groups.drupal.org/pegspace
