new index error after upgrading from 4.0.0 to 4.0.7
October 29, 2011, 08:34:38 pm
Hello,

I am haunted by index errors when using reports. I did not previously have a "order by" option in my Activities report. When I set the option and saved the report, I received this new error repeated twice in red:

Notice: Undefined index: section in CRM_Report_Form->orderBy() (line 1788 of /var/www/drupal-7.0/sites/all/modules/civicrm/CRM/Report/Form.php).

Despite the error, the report did change order correctly. The related dashlet still appears to work. Returning to generate the report from the report menu recreates the error message. While not catastrophic, I'm worried this may be symptomatic of a problem that may strike worse later. I'd rather not have to start from a fresh install if that can be avoided. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm using a localhost development machine running PHP 5.3.6, Drupal 7.0.0, and CiviCRM 4.0.7.

thank you,
-david

Firstly, you should upgrade to Drupal 7.9 :)

Regarding your warning, it's most probably nothing to worry about--it appears to be a warning about a very small bug in the CiviCRM code base. You could post an issue about it (see link upper right of this page) and then you could ignore the warning.

Thanks Hershel.

I will post the issue and stop worrying about this error. I'm a user administering his own localhost system, so I shy away from upgrades when my system appears to be working.
