Using CiviCRM for deputized support raising
November 02, 2011, 07:38:47 am
Hello CiviCRM folks!

I was just curious if anyone out there is using CiviCRM in a ministry setting where your staff do deputized support raising and, if so, how you went about thinking through how to set up CiviContribute, CiviCampaign, etc.  We're in the process of testing CiviCRM and would love to glean any wisdom you may have gained!

Thanks so much in advance!
Adam

Hello Adam,

I don't know of anyone whp uses Civi for this, but that's not to say that no one does.
If I understand deputized fund raising, you need a way to keep track of who is credited with raising the funds. This can be accomplished in a couple of ways:

1. You can set up Contribution Pages for each of your staff members. I would recommend this because it also keeps track of the amount that the staff member has raised, plus it displays the amount using a thermometer-like graphic.

2. You could have the donator put an In Honor Of credit using the staff member's name. You could then see who raised how much using the contribution report, however, you rely on the donator to put in the staff member's name. If they forget, you still have a donation, but don't necessarily know which staff member to credit.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Jason

You might also want to google eg civicrm "soft credit" and read up about how you might be able to employ that approach eg
