Server error: "The requested URL /civicrm/contribute/transact was not found"
May 14, 2007, 11:35:03 pm
When I try to look at a live civicontribute page, this is the error I get.

I am using a shared SSL cert from another domain on the same server. I followed the instructions here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRM/Sharing+an+SSL+Certificate+for+Multi-site+CiviContribute+Pages

Do I need to install civicrm for the domain that actually has the associated certificate? What am I missing? This is the first payment transaction site I've ever attempted to set up.

Can you please let us know which version of CiviCRM are you using?

Thx,

Are you sure that your request for "/civicrm/contribute/transact" is sent with proper domain name? "Not found" error means that the link is not even making it to CiviCRM to handle it, so I assume the manipulation with domain cookies caused something bad here. Can you please verify that all the domains that you've set in the code patch are right?

Also, note that the hack you used has been published on Dec 28, 2006, those were times when neither Drupal 5.1 nor CiviCRM 1.7 were around. I've added proper warning on that page.

Thx,
m

Yeah, I double checked all that.

What I decided to do is get a free certificate for the domain name running civicrm. I installed it on the server and got rid of the hack.  However, I still get the same error.

Now, I can get it working if I change the "Force SSL" setting to "no". So there is something going on with how I have apache set up. When I go to look at the civicontribute pages, I get a warning that the ssl certificate is on a different domain than the one I'm on. And then I get the "Not Found" error when I cick OK on the warning.

So, somehow, I'm still getting redirected to the first certificate on the server. Still, I'm not sure why that causes the "Not Found" error. Why should the certificate affect where civicrm looks for its files? Any ideas?

How is it with SSL vs. non-SSL configuration in your Apache? Your mention about "Force SSL" made me think, that perhaps you have different virtual server configuration for SSL and different one for non-SSL requests?

I'm basically a big idiot. Forgot to put a DocumentRoot directive for the secure VirtualHost.

Sorry to bother you. Thanks for your time, however. I appreciate it.

No worries, glad you have it resolved. :-)

I also keep forgetting these damn apache directives all the time. ;-)
