ACL VIEW for Custom fields - Is it a bug?
February 02, 2008, 01:54:02 pm
Hi,

I wanted to verify what should be the behavior for the ACL feature regarding the custom fields type.

I'm using CiviCRM 1.9 and Drupal.

I've setup ACL for contact custom fields groups with the config VIEW.

When I login with a user on which is appied the ACL and having the following access rights:
- access CiviCRM
- access CiviContribute
- access CiviMember
- access Contact Dashboard
- add contacts
- edit all contacts
- edit contributions
- make online contributions
- view all contacts

once the user edit contacts, he is able to modify the custom fields values, even if he was supposed to have the VIEW access only.  Is it a bug or a wrong configuration?

I searched on the forum, and I did not find a case where someone had a problem with the "view only" mode on custom fields.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Your below permission has both view and edit all contacts. I think custom data acls are all or nothing. i dont think we've separated the view and edit permissions for custom data.

Just to make sure that I understand correctly: when we create an ACL with "Type of data" set to "A set of custom fields", the "Operation" (view or edit) doest not apply?
