Display Drupal message on login when membership about to expire

Hello, everyone
I want to show a drupal message on login when we have reached the renewal reminder day (/civicrm/admin/member/membershipType).
Any tips on how to do this - if it's a drupal module would you be willing to share some code?

1. write a drupal module

2. implement hook_login

3. add the message if needed in the above hook

You should look at the code in: drupal/modules/civicrm_member_roles/* I suspect you can borrow a fair amount of code from there
