Integrity checking a CiviCRM 3.4.5 database
November 09, 2011, 05:05:11 am
I am experiencing a strange problem with a CiviCRM database (the Dashboard feature seems to be corrupt somehow), so I searched these forums for tools for checking the integrity of the database, in case it has become corrupt somehow, and I found this integrity-checking and repair tool.... http://dharmatech.org/tools/index.html
.. so I downloaded it and ran it but got.......

CiviCRM DB Tools Version 1.2

Checking database crmseaml_crmtest
Got version 3.4.5 from civicrm_domain.version
FATAL: Don't recognize version 3.4.5
 ???
Where do I go from here?
I have e-mailed Dharmatech to ask them if they have plans to upgrade their tool to support 3.4.5, and I'll report what response I get (unless anyone knows the answer to that question?).

Does anyone know of any other integrity-checking tool or technique that I should consider?  (I have tried the basic MySQL database checking utility which shows up nothing, so if there is database corruption it's nothing as basic as referential FK issues, etc., I guess.)

The problem I have with my Dashboard is that whenever I try to add a dashlet then the dashlet appears as a corrupt version of the site's home page, and whenever I try to Configure my Dashboard the UI seems corrupt in that I cannot drag dashlets to the columns (either left or right).  I have tried truncating the civicrm_dashboard_contact table in case that is where the corruption is, which restores things to the point that I can add dashlets to my dashboard but whichever dashlet I add (to either column) the result is the same.
Anyone got any ideas on how I should proceed?

Thanks
Mark   :(

May be a JS issue, not an MySQL one. Can you examine the Net tab of Firebug for Firefox and see if any errors appear? Like missing files?

I had this reply from Dharmatech..

Hi Mark,

It's been a long time since we've updated db tools. I doubt we will upgrade the tool for 3.4.x/4.x support. At the time, we were getting handed CiviCRM databases that were corrupt or had schema mismatches.
Since then, the upgrade path has been improved and we haven't had much need for db tools.

You're welcome to do with the source as you see fit. If you're a developer and would like to bring db tools into the 3.4.x/4.x world, I'm sure others in the community would appreciate it.

I guess it up to me (or anyone) to bring these tools into line with 3.4.5 etc.  Actually, I don't have skills to do this, myself.  :-[

Mark

@Hershel  8)
Thanks, that was a good clue.  It looks like I have a URL/path problem.
