Add [ ] Other field

On many forms the answer to multiple choice could be "other".   This is often proceeded by a text box to capture the details of the 'other' data.   I believe CiviCRM would require a separate field to be created in order to capture 'other' data.  But it would be really slick if this 'other field' could capture the text and store it in the same field.

I realize when we look at our schema this might be tricky to accomodate, but for the end user it would be a big bonus and a nice usability feature.

See what I mean with these "other" fields on this GoogleDocs form.

I think the other field is useful with:

select
checkbox
radio
(and maybe other similar html_type custom fields)

custom form elements. So basically these elements should have an option to include the "other field" (and what it should be called etc). This will imply that those elements now create two columns in the custom value table

I suspect we can make a few assumptions and narrow the scope of the project. This however is still a fairly large project and might be worth considering for an MIH. I would probably suggest an MIH of 50-75 hours with a fairly specific scope. If folks are interested in being seed sponsors for this, let us know :)

Stoob: wanna blog about it and why it is needed to potentially attract organizations who might be willing to fund it :)
