I'm using version 1.9 on joomla 1.0.13

I would like to create a public list (front end) of members of our
community with basic info (mainly name, address, and email) and then a
link on each one (view) to a full record display with all the emails, phones
addresses known for this member which will include the data of the head
of the family, the spouse and children.

I first tried creating households and individuals related between each
other, but I can't find a way to create a front page list with only
one instance of each family (preferable the household) that when
viewed would show also the other family members info.

I don't really understand how to take advantage of the household.

A possible solution would be to create custom fields on the household
for all the info of the members of the household and forget about
creating individuals, but that definitively sounds like terrible a
waste.

Is it possible to achieve this with civicrm?

I did that and the first part of my post gets solved, now that I have a list of households, the tricky part is:

When some one clicks on "view", how can I include the phone numbers of all the household members (not just the phone numbers that where entered in the household, but also the phone numbers of every member of that household, ie the head of the household, the spouse, the children, etc).
