CiviCRM 4.0.7 on Drupal 7.9 Install File Page Not Found
November 20, 2011, 06:45:29 pm
Hi everyone,
We have only just commenced working with CRM (on behalf of a client).  Prior to attempting to migrate their installation from one server to another we decided to setup a test domain.  We have followed the instructions on the CiviCRM website as well as some other forums and always end up in the same spot.

We have installed Drupal in the root directory of our site.   CiviCRM has been copied to /sites/all/modules/civicrm.

Now at this stage the installation instructions tell you to enter in the following into a browser:
http://<domain>/sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/index.php

Everytime we do this we receive a Page Not Found error.  I have looked into the Drupal error log and there's nothing special about the error.  It is reported as "Page Not Found" error.

We have tried changing the permissions for the site directory, all the way down to the install directory to 777 but alas we keep getting the error.

To be sure I have the path correct I typed into the address bar http://<domain>/sites/all/modules/civicrm/install/error.html and the page gets displayed correctly.  I then changed the filename to ensure it was definitely the correct file - and it was.

Can anyone help a newbie try to get to the bottom of this error?  It's got me stumped.  I should also add that I am a relative newbie to Drupal but this "Page Not Found" error just seems blatantly incorrect.

Any help would be hugely appreciated.

if u can see error.html but not index.php most likely it is due to some apache config telling it not to execute php files in that directory. i would try adding a simple php file there and checking if the above theory is right

As Lobo has indicated, this is not really a CiviCRM nor Drupal problem, rather a server issue. If you have confirmed that the file is there and your URL is correct, then all you are trying to do is execute a PHP file, not access Drupal in anyway. Try renaming .htaccess and see if that helps and if not, ask your sysadmin for assistance.
