CiviCRM Contact Reference Field in View

Am I missing something or is there no way to pull CiviCRM Contact fields into a view using a relationship through a CiviCRM Contact Reference field?

If i had to guess, since contact reference is relatively new, the handler for this custom field was not written. If one of you can take a look and add it for 4.1 or 4.2 that would be great. Note that jim has changed the views integration code for views3 a fair bit and you should plan on using that as the starting point :)

you have to create a field type of CiviCRM contact in one of your content types, then add that field as a relationship in views. I think only after that you will be able to pull CiviCRM contact fields. See screen capture attached.

Thanks  Pete & kennedy for the replies. I'd misunderstood the original post, thought it was talking about Contact Reference custom fields in Civi. E.g. you have a View of Civi contacts, the contacts have a Contact Reference custom field, you wish the View to show the display name of the referenced contact - by default it shows the contact ID. I thought this might be possible by using a Views relationship to join to the referenced contact but I couldn't find an option for this.

Cheers,

Dave
