Do I need a third-party service like SendGrid?
November 22, 2011, 10:32:42 am
The folks who help me administer my CiviCRM site are nervous about sending out too many emails using CiviMail, they fear that my site will get blacklisted as a spammer (even though I have all the "opt out" links and all that good stuff in the emails I send).

I don't know what triggers sites to get blacklisted, do you think this is a reasonable concern?  Or does having the required footer on every email (including contact information and the opt-out link) protect our site (mostly) from being blacklisted?

And if the answer is yes, I should be nervous, is SendGrid a reasonable third-party service to use?  I don't have any reason to prefer one over the other, but I would like one that integrates well with CiviCRM ...

Or, can I just keep using CiviMail for now (we don't plan on sending _that_ many emails!) and worry about this if we do get blacklisted at some point?

Thanks,
Chris
