Trying to set up the bounce/return email

I have set up a return email address both in CiviCRM and on my web server. When I try to connect manually (using websitename/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/bin/EmailProcessor.php?name=your-joomla-username&pass=your-joomla-password&key=site_key)

all I'm getting is "Problem loading Page" "The connection was reset,  The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."

What am I doing wrong?

I'm now trying it with a gmail account and I'm getting the message

components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/Error.php on line 306

Joomla v 1.7, CiviCRM v4.0.7
