creating Parent Events and Child Events
November 28, 2011, 04:07:25 am
At the moment we are looking into civicrm as a possible crm solution. The biggest question here is how can we create a parent event that is able to host several childevents. The reason behind this is that we have 1 event over several locations.

Would be great if somebody could help us out on this ?

With kind regards
Bart

Currently CiviEvent does not support hierarchical events and/or distributed events. However there has been quite a few requests for it.

Would be great if you / your org could consider developing this feature and/or sponsoring someone to get this into core.

Not sure if you know, but there is a civicrm sprint in NL week of Dec 12: http://civicrm.org/civicrm/event/info?reset=1&id=164

If you are getting more into Civi, might be worth attending that one

Hi Lobo,

Hmmm I have seen that in the forum while I was searching. Problem is that we are a non-profit organisation and work based upon social-capital and therefor don't even have a bankaccount.

We see that there are now-a-days more and more events are setup in the international community which are one event distributed over several locations ..... so it might be more important in future.......

with kind regards

Maybe you can help spec and figure out whats needed during the NL sprint. The next few orgs that need this feature can potentially build up on your spec :)

for now, you might want to consider using event templates and use the same template to create similar events in different locations
