carrying name info forward to PayPal Standard. is it possible?
February 04, 2008, 02:56:04 pm
i have it setup with PayPal Standard, and have people enter their name and address on our side before going to PayPal. When i did a test credit card run, none of the name/address info showed up in PayPal. is it supposed to? is it possible to make that happen??

thanks,
m

You'll need to check paypal docs to see if it is supposed to show up. We send that information to paypal since that is needed by the paypal api. i'm not sure what paypal does with that information :)

I think I have a related problem in civicrm 2.0 and the paypal standard sandbox.  It seems bigger than this...  I've confirmed that the first name and last name fields are named properly to be passed to paypal (first_name and last_name as specified in their docs).  However, when I complete the transaction and check the history, it shows up as "Test User" with no address.  Then when I return to civicrm, the thank you page says "Test User" with the correct address.

I admit that I'm new to civicrm, but I've been searching the forums and google for several hours today with no clear answer.

Anyone have any ideas?

Actually...  When stepping through the doTransferCheckout function, I can see that none of the contact information is passed to paypal.  The amount, currency, return URL, etc is passed, but none of the contact information.  Is this by design?

Yes, this is by design. There was another thread on this recently (check: http://forum.civicrm.org/index.php/topic,2509.0.html). We will probably address this in a future release (or please do submit a patch that addresses it and we'll incorporate into 2.1)
