How to make CiviCRM send an auto email to the profile submitter?
November 30, 2011, 09:40:52 am
I am new to CiviCRM and have high hopes for some of my client's projects. One thing that is not clear to me that I feel should be pretty straight forward is: How does on make CiviCRM send and auto templated email to a profile submitter? I can not find a clear answer to this. I am using Joomla 1.5.25 and CiviCRM 3.4.7. I am also using using this profile form with custom fields as a volunteer registration with Joomla account creation. Any guidence or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't think such exists. What exactly did you have in mind? Every time someone submits a Profile, they get an email? Or just when create an account?

Thanks Hershel for your reply,

What I want to be able to do is send a customized email thanking a volunteer applicant for submitting their application which is essentially the creation of a CiviCRM profile. I do not need this capability on profile edits. I was wondering how most CiviCRM developers/implementers handle this sort of function. Thanks!

I would suggest you use the CiviCRM Hooks, but there may be another way.

(know u r on joomla, but)

on drupal you can potentially use the rules module to implement this workflow. At some point in time if there is a workflow module in joomla, would be good to have an integration with it
