D7, Civi 4.1, Views 3. How to get Drupal Calendar to show CiviEvents?
December 04, 2011, 12:44:38 pm
Hi Guys,

Is there currently any documentation on how to get the above to work?

I have a civiEvents view that correctly outputs civievents into a formatted list, and a drupal calendars view that is showing drupal content by date on a formatted calendar.

When I try to edit the drupal calendar view to show civievents, nothing displays, and when I edit the civievent view to format output  in "calendar" format, nothing outputs...

See this module:

http://drupal.org/project/civicrm_events

It works but as far as I can tell, you can't add drupal node types to it. It only shows CiviEvents in the calendar. If this module could be re-written to also be able to select Drupal Nodes to include on the calendar it would be AWESOME!!!!

Dear All,

I have the following setup:
- Drupal 7.10
- Calendar 7.x-3.0-alpha2
- date 7.x-2.0rc1
- Views 7.x-3.0

But when I go to "Modules" and "Views," I can't find the "CiviEvent Calendar" on the list?  Is it because I didn't install the CCK module?  Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

- Aaron

Hi Aaron. There is no such module. What you need to do is enable all of those modules you listed, be sure to do the Views Integration step (as noted on the page I referenced above) and then in your Views list you should see a CiviEvent view.

Thanks, Hershel.  I forgot to enable the Calendar and Date modules......  :P

Need help with this process:

I have D7
with Views, CCK, Feeds, iCal Feeds and iCal Parser installed.

I have read and read the instructions:

First there is not any node type called Feeds that I see, only Event (which has date fields)

So I am at a loss as how to get the feed into Drupal Calendar. Please help.

Did you see the wiki page referred to in Reply #2 above? If you do that, you should have a View called civievents which you can use.

To clarify, there is no node type called Feeds. There are two ways to make a calendar--either a Calendar style view or a Feed style view. I think the Calendar style is easier, but you may differ.

I guess I am confused as I have Views but still don't understand the process.

Hershel,

I finally understood what you were talking about. Using the built in Views feature to build a CiviCRM Calendar using Views.

I am trying to use the Drupal Calendar because not every event we add to the calendar will be from Civi.  Hope that helps to understand why I am trying to get the Feeds method to work.

OK, now I understand.

We are now talking about "Option 2. Integrate CiviEvents iCal feed with Drupal Calendar" on Using Drupal Calendar with CiviEvent.

I have never done this, I don't think, but basically you would want to follow those instructions step by step. Have you done that? Is there a step that you're getting stuck on?

The step by step is good for old D6 installs and not D7 where lots changed starting with FeedAPI is now Feeds.  I guess I don't get the process because I have used Feeds to import User Accounts from Civi to Drupal but I can't get this to work.

I am trying to use node type Event that is a Drupal Calendar View.  I can create individual events that appear on the calendar just fine but when I try usign the feed URL in content creation it just makes an entry on the default date and time.  I am using Feeds Importer module the same as user import process for Civi and have the iCal Feeds Parser module installed but I cannot figure out what I am doing wrong.
