I have created a Contributions page for our society members to renew their annual memberships and (optionally) purchase subscriptions to our journal. The Contribution Type of the page is configured as "Journal Subscription". I have enabled the membership block section so members can select their membership type (Standard or Student). The Standard membership is selected by default, and membership signup is required.

For members paying with credit card (via Paypal Website Payments Pro processor) this has worked without a problem. Members who click on the "Check Out With Paypal" button are charged for a journal subscription if one was selected, but are not charged for membership dues, and instead receive an error on the order of:
Payment Processor Error message: 10415: Transaction refused because of an invalid argument ...

Persons trying to pay only membership dues receive the following error:
Payment Processor Error message: 10400:Transaction refused because of an invalid argument. See additional error messages for details. Order total is missing.

I have verified that paying with a credit card will not cause this error. Further, I have rebuilt the original Contributions page from scratch and have encountered the same error. It appears that the membership dues amount is not being passed when the "Check Out With Paypal" button is clicked, but I don't know how to track the problem down further. I don't think it lies in my payment processor configuration, since credit cards are processing correctly. I would appreciate any advice.
