db not working after password change
December 06, 2011, 04:32:57 am
I changed the password for my sql db. Then I changed the password on 2 rows in 2 files civicrm.settings.php.

When I choose con_civicrm from the admin-menu I get a blank screen.

Further more I get mails from civimail_cronjod with the message;
Usage: Please define CIVICRM_CONFDIR in settings_location.php at the top level civicrm directory

Obviously I have to make the password change on another place to, anyone knows where?

those are the only two places where the db access credentials need to be set. so take a look and confirm that you entered them correctly.

civi usually returns a message if the credentials are wrong -- indicating it couldn't connect to the db. so the white screen may be an indicator of a different problem. check your file permissions. it's possible you goofed up the permissions on those two files when you edited them.

re: the cronjob error -- that is fixed in later releases (3.4.7). the script was incorrectly requiring a file that is unique to drupal. try upgrading to the latest release to fix it.

thx for the reply. Good to know where to look.

the bug is fixed now. my problem was that I incidently mixed up some civicrm.settings.php files. I used the one for my local XAMPP test server. So it was not a password problem, but a path problem.

Strange enough the cronjob problem started when I changed the mysql password, but still exists after I put the right civicrm.settings.php  files in place.

I'll think I have to do the upgrade now.
