Membership Approval with Joomla
December 12, 2011, 02:05:47 pm
Hello,

I'm using Civi with Joomla.

I've got it configured so that whenever someone joins as a civi member through a contribution page, they are also required to register as a Joomla user. They then have to activate their account via an activation link sent through Joomla. This allows them to view menu items that only registered users can view.

This all works great except when a user types in the wrong credit card information, etc. When this happens, the account can still be activated and they are still able to see their civi account and hidden menu items through their joomla account, even though the payment hasn't gone through.

Any help in avoiding this problem would be much appreciated.

Thanks so much!

-Max

whats your payment processor?

if using something like paypal standard or google checkout the below behavior is standard. U'll need to use a payment process like paypal pro or auth.net

Hello,

Thanks for your response. I'm just using the dummy processor for now while testing it out. How would PayPal Pro help this issue?

Thanks,

Max

This would create another step where the payment would happen directly through my site correct?  Essentially meaning that no users would be created until someone has paid?

the dummy payment processor basically accepts all credit cards / combinations. so wondering when does it return a bad credit card. if we get an error like that on the form, i dont think we create any membership / cms records when there is  charge failure
