How to use old mySQL database with fresh install of Joomla / CiviCRM?

In response to my other thread, if no one can help there, can a developer please share how this is done?

I'm not clear what your question is actually. Can you clarify what it is you want to do?

I'm trying to create a fresh CiviCRM installation and import all the old data....

If your current install doesn't work, it sounds like you can not just copy your entire database. But if you want to try, use these instructions:

See I've tried this already, but I can't seem to make the previous import jobs show up.  I don't know what I'm missing.

I have just posted a new topic with almost the identical issue - except that I am on Drupal.  Hopefully between the two of us someone can answer how we are supposed to deal with this scenario!!!
