Prevent Sync in Joomla
December 13, 2011, 09:29:48 pm
So if I have my civi users and then my joomla users but I do not want the two to sync UNLESS I manually match a joomla user with the correct civi contact can I do this? I am afraid of a user simply registering in Joomla with someone else's email and it matching them to a civi contact incorrectly and showing private data. So I want to be able to have a user email me with their username and then I manually go in and match the civi account to the joomla user account.

Thoughts?

If you've not seen it already check out these third party plug-ins.  Specifically, the authentication plug-ins.

That link does not seem to work but it also seems that there is only one 3rd party authentication plugin. Is that right?

You might have to copy and paste that entire line as it split the URL I posted with the "nofollow" message.  I'm new on this forum and to prevent spamming I guess links I post are disabled or maybe not displayed.

Try these Google search terms:  "third party plugin civicrm".  First link on the page.

There is a CivicAuthenticate plugin and a CiviUser Component + Module extension.  I'm not sure either will do what you want, but they might be worth looking into.  Your question about users "spoofing" an e-mail address is a good point.  I might have to give that more thought myself.

Yeah it would be interesting to see if an admin could reply... as this seems like it could be a big security risk.
