Getting started with CiviCRM, adding it to an existing D7 site
December 16, 2011, 08:07:37 am
Hello,

I'm hoping to find some help or guidance about adding CiviCRM to an already-developed Drupal 7 site. I have the CiviCRM module installed, but I'm not sure where to go from there. The goal is to track the client's member organisations through CiviCRM. As I've never used a CRM before, I'm unsure of the best way to approach it. Should I create a content type in Drupal with the organisations' fields, or should I create a user type for organisations with the relevant fields? I feel like if I could just get to grips with these hopefully simple tasks it will set me on the path to figuring out the rest on my own, but currently I feel a little lost. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Jonathan

Apologies if I've got this in the wrong place. I couldn't decide between here and "Using CiviCRM."

Sounds like you should make an Organizational Contact for each organization, within CiviCRM and then setup relationships for each client.

You might want to explain what you mean by Member Organisations. Do they pay  a Membership fee that lasts for a particular length of time and that can be renewed - if so probably use CiviMember.
