Selected contacts only - on multiple pages
December 20, 2011, 06:32:26 pm
Hi,
We have a fairly large set of contacts (around 240,000 now) and currently when you search using a specific criteria you are generally faced with a number of pages listing the contacts that match that criteria, which is a good thing.

However, if you select a few contacts on each of these pages and then select the "Selected contacts only" radio button, only the contacts on the current page are used for the specific action and not all the contacts that have been selected on all of the pages.

Now, we have other ways of getting around this (eg using the import contact functionality) but just wondered if others had issues with this functionality and what techniques have been used to get around this.

I would be interested to see if others would like to add it to a "make it happen" project and I'll see if I can raise some funds to contribute to this. How much effort would be involved?

Feedback from any one would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
Roly.

This should be a lot easier now that we have the prev/next cache for contact search results, i.e. we can store the selection in the prev/next cache OR the session

Another large org asked us to scope this project out, and i think we estimated it to be 50-75 hours. if your org can sponsor 25 or so hours then i think we can have an MIH for 4.2 with a high probability of success

Let me know if so, and we can put that up soon
