Missing CiviCase, OG and rules
December 21, 2011, 07:20:40 pm
I installed CiviCRM 4.0.8 through Drupal 7 on BlueHost shared.  It went very well and now that I'm testing it (aside from a few errors that I haven't tracked down); but the major issue is that CiviCase doesn't show up in the modules list and, thus, I can't enable it.  Nor do 'OG' and 'rules'.  See attached list of Drupal modules.

Any ideas about how I can get these and add them to the environment?

Where in the file system can I see modules in CiviCRM?

Thanks!

You should enable CiviCase in the CiviCRM settings, not in the Drupal module list. So go to CiviCRM, select Administer from the top menu, and then Enable Component (I think this is in Configuration)

As Erik said, CiviCase is a component of CiviCRM, not a module. To enable: Admin -- Administrative Console -- Global Settings -- Enable Components.

For OG and Rules, these are Drupal modules. For how to install see here: http://drupal.org/documentation/install/modules-themes

Thanks!

BTW, is there a way to acknowledge someone w/o doing a reply?  I thought I saw a reference to an icon but haven't found it yet.

You can click on the [applaud] link under someone's name.

yea... that's what I read, but I don't see it... you mean their name to the left of the message right?  none of the links are "applaud"... there's email, PM, profile, a couple of others... what does it look like?  maybe chrome just isn't rendering it.

My guess is that its a permissions thing and so since your account is still "i'm new here" you dont' yet have this, that's all.

I've got CiviCASE operational now and it looks like it requires considerable coding to customize for our workflow, etc... is that the plan for the next 6 months or can I expect a user interface for customization sooner than that?

There are no plans to add a UI / customization for CiviCase in the next release (4.2). If your org is interested and can help fund it / do the development work that would help a lot

Thanks lobo, I wish we could... we don't even have funds to implement CiviCRM... I'm going to see how far I can get on my own with the admin modules, but it will be a challenge... I'm in the process of learning CiviCRM, Drupal, php, css, html and probably SQL stuff with no experience in any web development... my hard core techie days ended 20 years ago when I moved to project management, leading development teams and doing Business Process redesign so I'm way behind the curve here...

Its a minor miracle that I even got Drupal and Civi installed... LOL (actually it was pretty painless... but still in play mode)
