Missing Print Report, PDF, Export CSV buttons

After registering a custom report template and adding a report based on this to the navigation menu, I have lost the Print Report, PDF, Export CSV buttons. The buttons are missing on all other reports and some now have some weird markup.

I removed the template, tried cleaning the template cache, but no luck  ???

What could cause this?

Manually clearing /sites/default/files/civicrm/templates_c solved my problem.
