Obviously it depends on your exact needs, but you could certainly set up your specific relationship type, e.g. beneficiary/sponsor, and link two contacts in that way. That is standard CiviCRM functionality.

If you want the two to be combined automatically you would have to add one or two custom fields and do some customization, but I do not know what kind of process you want to be supported and if you have any PHP skills available to you(r organization).
